To bring forth your words . . .

As a kid, I didn't dream about having children or even getting married. All I wanted was to have a meaningful career, one where my strengths could be utilized and honest conversations could be had. It took time to find such a precious and privileged position.
My early years were spent in business suits and control top pantyhose, as a corporate sales executive. I gained valuable training in marketing, communication, and media, and could sell like a champ. But it wasn't enough to contribute to people's businesses. I wanted to change people's inner worlds, mine included.
So I left corporate and became a manager at a personal growth bookstore. This exposed me to endless portals of information that I'm still unpacking every day. Plus, working at a bookstore was even cooler than I had imagined.
I went on to write a weekly book review column with a loyal following of readers. I also hosted my own TV talk show called Reveal What's Real to showcase the magnificent leaders I was meeting through the bookstore.
That job taught me how the book industry operates, and what makes an author successful. I also learned about readers who choose personal and professional growth--what books they like/dislike, and how they prefer to consume material. This rare insight gave me infinite satisfaction, and it led me to help authors sell more books.
Soon, I wrote my own book, Don't Tell Me to Calm Down, though I didn't seek to become a thought leader.
The book was a tribute to my teachers. I wanted to put into 'concrete form' what they had taught me about speaking up, standing down, and stepping forward with humility and skill.
Additionally, I wanted my book to demonstrate that you don't have to be an expert to be an author. All you need is passion and purpose, AND a book expert who can lead you into print. Being that person, that expert for authors gives me a chance to elevate people, and it allows me to witness their transformation (no one is the same after writing a book).
Most importantly, it gives me permission to dive deep into people's lives and to bring forth the words they're meant to leave on this Earth.
