Is your manuscript just sitting on your desktop?

Picture
Writing a book is a transformational process, and when it’s time to get published, authors often feel overwhelmed, exhausted, and even insecure. It’s both easy and common to:

  • Procrastinate on this last step of completion
  • Blame agents/publishers for slowing down your progress
  • Assume your manuscript probably isn’t done (or good enough) anyway
Picture

Think of me as Patrick Swayze (Johnny) with an outstretched hand, ready to lead your book onto the publishing dance floor, where it can be lifted from your laptop and finally put into print.

Author Now Publishing is an all inclusive package for independent authors who don’t want to play the “wait and see” game with traditional publishers. They want their books to be consumed today, not someday. They want completion of this massive goal, so they can move on with their lives and careers as a published author.

The thrill of holding your book in your hands . . .

Picture
This indescribable rush only happens once in most authors’ lives. As a ghostwriter and author, I know firsthand how healing this experience can be. For many, it provides closure, while opening a new chapter of their existence.

Yet publishing can be outrageously annoying!

Did you know:

Personal growth, business, memoir, or leadership book authors rarely get contracts from the Big Five book publishers?

Unless you’re an established writer or speaker, or a celebrity or social media star, you’ll probably have to find another path to publishing. That’s not true for novels and other genres, but for transformational or instructional nonfiction, it’s the reality.

You have other options, but . . .

Hybrid publishers and independent publishing companies can be deceiving and frustrating. Most of them don’t pay author advances. Their contracts can also diminish your royalties, change your title, limit your design choices, and strip away ownership of your content.

Some hybrid publishers will even charge YOU to print your book, while claiming to promote you to best-seller status. (Don’t believe them!)

That leaves self-publishing--now the preferred choice for transformational, indie authors.

Though problems do arise with this process:

  1. It can be tedious to manage, and in the end, you’ll likely have to hire someone to help anyway.
  2. Professional quality books follow professional book standards. That means your retired English teacher aunt isn’t qualified to proofread.
  3. Unless you find a graphic designer with book design experience, you’re likely to get a book that looks homemade (and is received as such).
  4. Many self-published authors are unhappy with the quality of print and design, along with the typos they didn’t catch. They silently hope no one finds them.

Want your self-published book to look like it came from a big publisher?

As your self-publishing agent, I’m here to get your book published as quickly, professionally, and gorgeously as possible. With Author Now Publishing, your book will be kept within your control, which means you’ll receive:

  • Full ownership of your content
  • Book prices set by you
  • Control over cover design and book title
  • Ability to make later changes/updates
  • All profits from your books
  • Speed of completion

And that’s just the beginning.

Because every author’s needs are different, you’ll get a customized publishing package. So if you’ve done self-publishing before (and it didn’t go well), you can try it again with a team of professionals and get help with specific items. And if you’re a first time author, know that we’ve got you covered, start to finish!

ARE YOU READY TO DO THIS OR WHAT?

Let me ask you first . . .

Do you want professional feedback on your overall manuscript?
Are you still unsure of your target audience?
Struggling to write your book description?
Need help clarifying your book title and subtitle?

If so, I can help with these final steps, but until these pieces are nailed down, your book won’t be ready for print. Talk to me about where you’re struggling, so we can get these concerns resolved and get you ready for the
Author Now Publishing process.

Here’s how we’ll work together:

PHASE ONE: PREP FOR DESIGN (1-3 weeks)

Front and Back Matter – This includes editorial assistance of your copyright page, title page, table of contents, author bio, and back cover message. It can also include acknowledgements, quote page, dedication page, and testimonials.

Proofreading
– When the manuscript is complete, it’s sent to a professional book proofreader to fix typos and grammatical issues. Your book will be edited to meet Chicago Manual of Style standards used throughout the book industry.

PHASE TWO: DESIGN & PUBLISHING (4–6 weeks)

Design – Your manuscript is sent to a graphic design team who specializes in books. They create your front and back cover design, as well as spine design and interior layout. This becomes the paperback, Kindle, and/or hardcover versions of your book that include the barcode and ISBN number.

Account Registration – You’ll register as an author on Amazon KDP and Ingram Spark. These two platforms will enable your book to be found (almost) everywhere books are sold online.

Approval – Once you set up the basics on Ingram and KDP, we will upload your manuscript and cover design, select necessary items for proper printing, and jump through the hoops on those platforms to get final approval.

Proof Copies – When the manuscript is approved on KDP and Ingram, you’ll order proof copies of your paperback and/or hardcover. If everything looks good, we make your links “public” for online sales.

Printing – Both Amazon KDP and Ingram print books on demand. That means you don’t have to buy 10,000 copies and store them in your house. With each online order, your book is individually printed and shipped directly to the customer.

WHAT’S ALL INCLUDED:

  • Editorial assistance with the front and back matter of your book.
  • Professional proofreading of your manuscript.
  • Professional design of your paperback, hardcover, and/or Kindle cover.
  • Professional interior design of your book.
